Review of Club Dread (2004) by Richard L — 03 Aug 2008
This movie looks like an hybrid between a comedic spoof of horror movies and a teen movie. However, it fails both as a comedy and an horror movie and is way too mainstream to be deemed a spoof, so basically only the teen movie part remains.
On the comedy side, the humor is essentially comprised of mindless first-degree jokes (a few of them are funny). On the horror side, there are some references to other horror movies (mostly Friday the 13th) and there is some gore and violence, but it's not scary at all.
Finally, there are lots of pointless excuses to show women in bathsuits (or just plain naked), and many sexist remarks which are totally unnecessary.
