Review of Club Dread (2004) by Matt B — 25 Apr 2010
...I'm 20 now, and I don't feel different, unless I think about the fact that I'm 20, which is halfway to 40, which is halfway to 80 and so on.
So basically, I don't "feel" any different, except for all the cracks I hear from people about not being a teenager anymore. I got to see The Passion of the Christ and Club Dread when I went to Calgary for the day. Both very different movies, I can tell you that much.
I found Club Dread to be a better movie than Super Troopers was, but found it hard to enjoy the movie because the two people I brought along didn't seem to enjoy it as much. It was littered with funny bits, but there was also a lot of down time.
The Passion of the Christ on the other hand...whew. That was one of the most visually and emotionally powerful movies I have ever seen. I didn't move throughout the entire movie, except to look away during some of the beating scenes, which as it was said, were extremely gorey. When the movie was over, I just sat there, almost paralyzed.
Anyway, I'm off.
Booya, grandma.
