Review of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) by Keegan D — 09 Feb 2015
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is known for being one of Sony`s bast animated films out there. In my opinion, it is not. It has some creative and funny moments, but it also has some of its generic moments too.
The main character Flint Lockwood is one of those examples. He is so generic, weird and annoying that I could understand why the people of the town hate him so much. At least Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon was likeable for being the underdog hero or Balto from Balto, but Flint is so darn annoying.
The mayor in the film is a terrible villain who wants everything his way through propaganda and while the other characters are not interesting like the weather girl and steve, there is one character that I actually enjoyed and that is Mr.
T as the police officer. He delivers some of the hilarious moments from the film and I could see why. His kinda reminds me of one of the lost police officers from the Police Academy movies with his quick paste attitude and moments.
The animations is well done from the background, but for the characters, it could have been better if it was hand drawn than CGI. I could understand why Matt Burnett hates this movie, but for me it was okay.
I love the idea of food weather, the jokes and the crazy food situations that Flint goes through, but I wouldn't consider it as one of the best non Pixar movies that Watchmojo ranked at #3. I felt like it could have been done better with the characters, story and character animation.
But how it is done, its an okay movie for kids to enjoy. Check it out and see for yourself. On a scale from 1 to 10, it gets a 6/10.
