Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Daniel C — 23 Dec 2013
Cloud Atlas is a masterpiece. Any critic who gives this movie a bad review simply shows their true colors as an anti-intellectual, and someone who does not actually appreciate the cinematic process; exposing their lack of qualification for their job.
The film's only flaw is its excessive length compounded with the need to watch it three times in order to understand it. Aside from that, this is film making at its best. Watching the movie is the equivalent of being inches away from a large mosaic, at first only seeing a few individual tiles, and then stepping back slowly to allow the bigger picture to reveal itself.
If you are able to feel this metaphorical bigger picture, then you will find this movie extremely rewarding. Congratulations to the film makers for creating a movie bigger than itself, unconventional, and mind expanding.
I could go on as well about the fantastic set design, cinematography, costume, etc, but really, just watch it. It is greatness.
