Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Laura N — 20 Jan 2014

I read the book and as soon as I finished, I knew I HAD to watch the movie, just so I could see how they would render the book in film. And it was innovative. The connections between the stories were actually EASIER to see in the film than in the book.

That being said, I HIGHLY recommend that if you want to watch this film, you should REALLY read the book first. Otherwise, you spend a good part of the movie wondering if someone slipped some lsd into your lasagna.

Also, for the parts where the characters speak some sort of futuristic hillbilly English, subtitles might be useful. THAT part was easier to understand while reading the book.
