Long and ambiguous stories across the ages. The dynamic is interesting given the different eras shown and the use of the same actors in each - even Hugh 'one character' Grant can take some acting credit for this one.
Other than familiar faces in different guises the links between different eras are not altogether that obvious and will take several viewings to get the connections, but at nearly 3 hours in running time whether you'll want to do this is another thing.
The various stories are all well directed.
