Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Rachael K — 17 Feb 2014
The fact that this epic can only muster a 66% likability rating tells me western culture is hanging on by a thread. The message couldn't be more clear, the fact that so many viewers could miss it is astonishing.
The past, the present, and the future are all linked in a way that transcends efforts at reductionism. Most people can only arrive at this conclusion when they realize they are going to die. This movie imparts the viewer with such wisdom in a mere 2 and a half hours.
