Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Cade H — 03 Mar 2014
You can tell a lot of time, money and effort was put into making this movie. The film consisted of several different story lines going on and it jumps you back and fourth between all of them. It gets a little confusing when you realize the same actors are playing multiple characters throughout the various stories.
At first it had me so lost and I kept thinking somehow these all connect and I was overthinking it all, when in reality each tale exists on its own. Each separate story being told was fun and exciting and they all had there pros and cons.
I enjoyed how they never took things to overly serious and many times small funny parts were thrown in the mix. I was surprised that the acting was nothing special, considering the talent that was in the film it was a bit of a letdown.
Overall Cloud Atlas is a long, deep film that you need to pay close attention to, to really get the full effect. It was very unique and interesting but not the mind blowing epic it seems it set out to be.
