Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Nick P — 01 Aug 2014
A touching, subtle, complex, beautiful exploration of the deeds of mankind and how they reverberate through culture and across ages, this underrated epic showcases the Wachowski siblings at their very best as they dance between different tones, worlds, and genres with practiced ease.
The plot flows like a dozen streams of human flaws merging into a narrative river of existential contemplation. And it's surprisingly easy to follow. If you find yourself lost during this fantasy/sci-fi classic, you are the problem, not the film.
