Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Stefan H — 13 Jan 2015
It is a shame that people miss the deeper themes that this film is trying to get across. Though to be fair, their was a time in my life many years ago when I would have hated this film. I have longed for films that did not serve everything up to you on a silver platter, yet when they come along many people hate it.
Could Atlas is certainly a polarizing film, you love it or hate it, with few people falling in the middle. That in and of itself is a remarkable feat. If a film is largely hated or loved then there can be a certain level of agreement that the film stuck ( or failed to strike) a particular cord.
But films that split opinion are a tougher nut to crack. This film is certainly not for everyone and it earns points with me on that score for not following the crowd as so many films do today. I would implore everyone to see this film, if only once, and make the call for themselves.
No matter where you fall, love or hate, it is sure to evoke strong emotion rather than indifference and that, in my opinion, is worth the experience.
