Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by India M — 30 Mar 2015

I love this film. Since it was considered virtually impossible to make, as it tells several stories at once and each in different time periods, I would advise a new viewer (if you haven't read the book) to look at one of the several Cloud Atlas charts that are on the Internet, before viewing. They might not make sense right away but will as the film plays.

I see more each time I watch this, but I needed to watch it twice to "get it" at first.

This film tells us how are words and actions, be they good or evil, ripple across time to make us the people we are. But the stories it tells don't drill it into your head as a lesson. In fact only one of the characters,.

Somni 451, sheds any light on what all the others stories mean.

Wonderful performances of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry (both perennial favorites) as well as the actress who plays Somni.

This is just one of those movies you will need to devote your time and watch more than once (or twice) to see its whole meaning. It's definitely worth that time though!
