Review of Cloud Atlas (2012) by Timothy G — 17 Feb 2014
Cloud Atlas is an epic movie spanning six different time periods, with a common link binding them all together. The actions in one period reverberate through time causing interlinking consequences in the others.
It is indeed a story that requires a lot of attention, with virtually every scene jumping backwards or forwards in time. The cast also continue the common link by each playing a character in each time period.
This works well for each of them to show their acting diversity, particularly Tom Hanks. Cloud Atlas does appear at times to be attempting to be too clever for it's own good. It is however a great piece of filmmaking and recommended for those who enjoy a deep and thought provoking journey.
