This movie actually is one small circle of fuck. For real. Four strangers are brought together and torn apart by fucking, the act of which is only ever described on-screen in dialogue that's damn near impossible to describe.
To call it beautiful is a misrepresentation. Talking about love is beautiful; talking about sex is bitter, raw, and vulgar. It disrupts, clouds the atmosphere, and unsettles an audience. I was mesmerized though, because Closer stars four very talented actors who make this dialogue work exactly the way it was intended.
Brilliant stuff.
