Review of Closer (2004) by Lauree K — 08 Apr 2012
WOW is the best thing I can say, now I'll say some more. Closer takes you into the lives of four people who lives intersect in a flurry of love and relationship and cheating and getting back together and more cheating.
The movie jumps around a bit just to keep the action fresh and leave out the boring stuff. Jude Law see Natalie Portman on the street in London and as they approach each other Natalie is struck by a cab.
Law sees that she is taken to the hospital and finds himself smitten with her in a way he can't control. They fall in love and Law publishes a book about her life. During a photo shoot he meets Julia Roberts who is a professional photographer and instantly falls in love with her, he finds himself torn between the one who loves him dearly and the one he can't have.
Enter Clive Owen who just by chance is sent to an aquarium by Law on an internet chat room where Law passes himself off as Roberts. When Owen arrives at the aquarium Roberts just happens to be there and they have an awkward meeting that leads to love and marriage.
At Roberts gallery showing for her book the four come together and begins a torrent of affairs and lies and some very painful truths. This movie is the most accurate depiction of raw emotion and how fickle the heart is that I have ever seen.
