Review of Closer (2004) by Ryan S — 11 Oct 2009
The first half of this movie, I enjoyed. It was funny, light-hearted, with some romance, but then it just took a ridiculous turn and suddenly everybody was in love with everybody and everybody was sleeping with everybody.
This movie showcases such a childish view of love, it's like it's written by a 12-year-old. It's ridiculous how quickly someone is in love with someone and then suddenly isn't anymore and is in love with someone else, and then goes back to that person because they can't have they other person, and it's like something out of damn middle school.
I didn't care for the huge gaps of time that passed either. Some scenes were just miraculously years apart, and all has changed, but the viewer witnesses none of it. The cast was good, but the characters and the script and the dialogue were not.
None of the characters were likeable at all, and the dialogue was just ridiculous and unrealistic. This was just not a well written movie in the least. I don't understand the appeal with this one, I really don't.
