Review of Closer (2004) by Melissa H — 03 Oct 2010
The more I watch this film, the more I come to realize. I find something new and different each time, and enjoy it more every time too, its just intriguing. I think this is a beautiful study on relationships and humanity in general.
It definitely makes you question and ponder. This also gave a whole new meaning to the song "The Blowers Daughter" by Damien RIce, beautiful choice for the motion picture..and it was interesting how this film was so dialogue heavy that the only "score like" music was his song opening and ending the film and the beginning of his song "Cold Water" in about two scenes.
Closer shows the complications, confusions, deceit, mystery, pain, passion and rage of love...and it was in your face. I happen to love this film...sad as it is. It fascinates me. I love all the actors as well, I couldn't have been happier with Mike Nichols's choices (who is a fantastic director by the way.
) He is a fearless risk taker and I love that.
