Review of Closer (2004) by Romeo B — 14 Oct 2009
I watched this movie twice (about four years apart), but i've never read or seen the play. thought this movie was really sad the first time I saw it, especially because of the damien rice songs used.
the second time, it made some amount of sense, but in the end, I felt no compassion or pity for any of the characters, because I felt some amount of sympathy for natalie portman and jude law's characters the first time I saw it, for obviously different reasons.
the second time I watched it, a couple of days ago, I wasn't really too sure what to make of it. it was actually funny watching it this time around (?) not sure if this is a brilliant work or just the use of high-profile actors to push a somewhat "limited" vehicle, but the only thing I can say is that it was compelling, both time i've watched it.
