Review of Closer (2004) by Matt G — 02 Jun 2010
This movie was great. It's not one of those movies that has butterflies and flowers. It portrays real life. Now tell me... in our society where dating is part of life, things go wrong. Marriages in this society also goes wrong. Just look at the divorce rates. Learn from the movie. The characters may seem terrible, but they are real. One of those people may represent husbands/wives of this world or boyfriend/girlfriends.
Another great thing about this movie was its sophisticated dialogue. I understand its strong and in your face words -- but please, truly speaking -people in our world talk like this. There is a lot of hurting and evil in this world. People hurt each other and the movie shows the consequences.
The actors are wonderful too. Natalie does a brilliant job. Her emotions are sometimes hidden in her face and other times she seems just so real.
Julia seems like a person who had it all and wasn't satisfied. Dan seems to be the guy who causes all the problems, but he has that quality that wants to be bad , but is not good being it. I thought he was very good in this movie.
Clive was excellent too. My, he seems very harsh but he seems to be the one everyone might have sympathy for.
All in all the acting was superb.
A very great movie, especially for a date movie!!
