Review of Closer (2004) by Lee B — 29 Dec 2010
Two portrayals of love, symmetrical throughout. Closer's portrayal of love, it's challenges, it's advantages and it's disadvantages are so beautiful and mesmerising. The film features four stunning performances from the minimal cast, with Natalie Portman standing out, as she always does.
The other three performances are on par to each other, with the subtleness and aggression that Clive Owen, Julia Roberts and Jude Law showcase. The screenplay is perfectly paced out, and the story is so realistic and tender that it makes the conclusion so appropriate and suitable.
Took me by surprise.
