Review of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) by Tj R — 30 Aug 2010
Over the years I had seen bits and pieces on TV, but I had never watched the whole thing until recently. I was impressed. I enjoyed the mixing of the insider and outsider perspectives. I loved how Dreyfuss's character is alienated from his friends and family by his new-found knowledge--the inability to shut out this new knowledge was potent and rang true.
I enjoyed the first 2/3 much more than the final portion, though the effects have held up well.
