Review of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) by Carlos R — 16 Sep 2010
A thrilling and suspenseful atmosphere and maybe its realism are the principal merits of this film, the first 90 minutes are excellent, because the story is very well told, the acting is good, some scenes are superb and you can really get into the mind of the characters, especially into Roy's character and the scene when he goes mad throwing the plants through the window was a great scene.
On the other side, Melinda Dillon's character has another reason to look for the UFOs, because they took away her child, in which was a great scene. The final 40 minutes of the film, despite a great direction with good visual effects, has maybe too many clichés and the kiss near the end between the two main characters was way too unnecessary.
Well, it's a good and solid film... the ending a little weak compared to the rest but still an enjoyable movie experience.
