Even if you don't believe it, Ronald Reagan said: "That's exactly what happened". Incredible visual effects, suspense, sound effects, story, direction, acting. Some of my favorite scenes when the mothership answers and break all the glasses.
And the alien in the kitchen. Spielberg work with kids like nobody else.
