Review of Climates (2006) by Paul P — 17 Dec 2011
My introduction to Nuri Bilge Ceylan and I came away with my mind blown. He has such a subtle hand in crafting this film. 'Climates' really captures the guilt, yearning and loneliness after a break up.
The performances are flawless. There are long scenes of absolute silence and the actors do a brilliant job of letting the audience in but also staying hidden and leaving the audience to wonder. The heightened sound effects are a great touch.
I should also mention that it has magnificent cinematography that offer the amazing contrast of beautiful images next to this dead relationship.
