Review of Cliffhanger (1993) by Dennis L — 07 Jul 2008
Despite Stallone's incoherent speech and ridiculous plot, Cliffhanger still comes out as an entertaining popcorn movie. While most people would tend to compare this with mountain climbing movies like Vertical Limit, one has to realize that Cliffhanger is about the Colorado Rescue forest rescue team rather than Everest/K9 type of mountain climbing. So there's no "real" mountain climbing involved here. It's about a British thief who crash lands with his bandits on the Colorado slopes trying to find the suitcase with 100 million in it, calls the rescue team and takes them hostage to find the money.
It's simple, it's straightforward, it's fast. Definitely not very intelligent nor inspiring or any of that cheesy cap. That's entertainment.
Story: 3/10.
Boredom Factor: 3/10.
Pace: fast.
Talk to Action Ratio: 3:7.
Watch Again Rating: 6/10.
Overall: 6/10.
