Review of Cliffhanger (1993) by Tyler R — 25 Nov 2008
The beginning have a twist with the fall was an interesting start to the story. Heights and big mountains are scary to a LOT of people.
Eric Qualen's character was well-done, as were his other gang members. The whole "I'm arrogant and you won't touch me," combined with his psychotic and evil nature was cranked as far as possible, making for an INCREDIBLY hatable villain. The fact that he was perfectly willing to kill off Kristel without a second took me by surprise. It showcases his maniacal side. That notwithstanding, they still make some pretty dumb moves. For people looking for something in the mountains, covered in the snow, who's actually DUMB enough to shoot a gun right into the rocks? Avalanche? Landslide? That, and though they seemed to be English... they didn't act very English in some points. Did anyone else notice this?
Though it's an "R" film, an unbelievable amount of rough language that wasn't necessary for any reason. It could have been toned down and made into PG-13 easily.
