Review of Cliffhanger (1993) by Justin O — 25 Oct 2012

Action adventure set in the Rocky Mountains, starring Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow with the former as an (ex) member of Mountain Rescue, and the latter as a criminal whose hi-tech air-to-air hijacking of a precious cargo has gone awry and who has ended up (with his fellow ne'er-do-wells) crashing on the mountains.

I remember seeing this film in the cinema when it first came out, and being in shock at *that* opening scene. While time (and the smaller real estate of a TV screen compared to a cinema screen) has diluted that a bit, it is still a pretty harrowing - real sweaty palms stuff - opener, even if you know how it is going to end!
