Review of Cliffhanger (1993) by Skyler B — 22 Jan 2013
Now I don't necessarily have a fear of heights but I do have a fear of falling from them. Doesn't everyone? Anyway, this movie has one of the most intense opening scenes in cinematic history. Even though I know the outcome of that opening scene, having seen this flick many many times, my pulse still raises for the entire 10 minutes.
This is one of Sly's best, easy and by far the best effort put forth by director Renny Harlin. I remember this year saw the release of this pic and another Stallone classic Demolition Man. 1993 was a good year for Sly and an even better year for fans of his movies.
Great action, a menacing bad guy in the always brilliant as evil John Lithgow, and some real emotion. And it has what my friends and I like to refer to as The Rooker Factor. Which gains at least a half star right there.
