The SF fantastic comedy is funny, entertaining but instructive. I understand the husband's emotion to use an universal remote to control his life and concentrate on his job but 'Family or job' is a difficult question for most people.
It's not a black-or-white issue and there may be various answers. One clear thing is people should not be so much occupied that he loses room for thinking of his family. Probably continuous effort to listen to and understand one's partner and to be creative to maintain the partnership may be necessary or he may lose his future with his partner.
