Review of Clerks II (2006) by Graham J — 19 Nov 2011
I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, but must admit I was skeptical when I heard of this sequel. Clerks is still my favorite of Smith's films and it never really needed a sequel. Thankfully he proved just about everyone wrong.
Clerks II is a very original and thoughtful sequel. There are a ton of classic moments in the movie like 'pillow pants', 'porch monkey' and 'star wars vs. lord of the rings'. But I really liked and understood the film's messages of.
.. what do you do when that slacker mentality carries over into your 30's? Once again, Randal (Jeff Anderson) makes the movie and steals every scene he's in, but the rest of the cast is top notch as well.
Rosario Dawson gives an especially nice performance. While it's not as good as the original, it's better than it had any right to be and is a welcome addition to Smith's Askewniverse.
