A true cult classic for anyone who has felt stuck in a dead end job. Though a fairly basic storyline (A day in the life of a store clerk), Cut the film down to 20-30min slot it quite feasibly could have been a comedy sitcom.

However, it isn't and what this feature film brings is a smart, funny and somewhat wholesome viewing. Unlike most late teen comedy films, that focuses more on a getting a cheap laugh above all else, this film has a point and clear central character development which is relatable and sympathetic.

It is interlaced with long-syllable word title screens and shots of jay and silent bob, it is a great example of an indie done right. Its lack of budget is compensated by its superbly written dialogue and creates unexpected puns, double entendres and running jokes whilst keeping to the crude taste but ultimately funny humour of a sexual nature.

Id say though in the end it is a story of a one man's indecisiveness with the problems surrounding him of love affairs, friendship, hockey and fairly unique customers. Clerks is a much of a coming-of-age film as an indie comedy and for this aspect id highly recommend it to anyone!
