Review of Clerks (1994) by Daniel D — 06 Jan 2013
One of the most conceptually mind-bending movies I've ever seen. One the one hand, it uses extremely conservative and purist filming techniques; but on the other, it's celebratory of the obscene.
The result is an accurate portrait of the typical day to day life of the urban dog. But Kevin Smith proves masterful at crafting it all together, interweaving the various stories of Dante's past, in the process delving into his problems as a frustrated young man.
You can't help but identify with these characters, which is why this is a film that deserves rewatching.
