Review of Clerks (1994) by Josh W — 20 Jun 2014
It is an inspiration to aspiring filmmakers anywhere that encourages those folks to just get out there and make something, regardless of budget. Because what Clerks lacks in cinematic flair, it more than makes up for in fantastic writing and zany characters, who would go on to become icons.
Its everyday man aesthetic is relatable to anybody in their 20's who has experienced working a mundane job and can identify the stereotypical situations associated with that job. It also serves as a nice parallel to Smith's humble beginnings as a filmmaker.
Definitely one of the definitive films of the 90's, and a nice nostalgia trip to that era.
