Review of Clear and Present Danger (1994) by Robert G — 09 Aug 2008

After the murder of a close friend of the President of The United States, The President has a covert operation to weed out a Columbian drug dealer responsible for the murder. CIA analyst Jack Ryan filling in for the role of Deputy Director for his boss who was recently diagnosed with cancer is caught in the middle. As events unfold Ryan tries to weed out a mole embedded in the government hierarchy. As the events unfold and innocent begin to die, Ryan must hastily uncover the covert operation and save the innocent before more people die and America is caught in an illegal war.

A Clear and Present Danger is the third movie based off the Tom Clancy novel of the same name. Harrison Ford as usual does a solid job bringing the film together. Many Clancy fans may not be too happy that the movie is only based on the book and not entirely. The movie is a solid espionage thriller by itself. The movie really makes you think and wonder what the government maybe doing that we don?t know. The movie also introduces a famous character in Clancy novels known as Mr. Clark. A Clear and Present Danger is a great espionage film that a conspiracy minded person yearns for. A Clear and Present Danger receives four stars and stripes out of five for being a good espionage flick that could have been stronger but all around does the job to wet the appetite.
