Review of Clash of the Titans (2010) by Jessica F — 20 Jul 2012
I won't speak to the 1981 original movie, since I've never seen it, but I enjoyed this movie. I didn't LOVE it. For one thing, this story is literally old as dirt. If you have ever been bored enough (or in my case fascinated enough) to pick up a book of Greek myths and read it, you will recognize the story of Perseus and Andromeda.
You will already know who Cassopeia 'was'. You'll know how Perseus defeats Medusa. If you have followed the myth even vaguely, then almost nothing in this movie will surprise you, which is a shame.
The Djinn, for example, was a cool inclusion. I would have liked to have seen more done with them, as well as more of the races/species that were only offhandedly mentioned in a 30-second snip of dialogue.
A remake doesn't have to limit you. Oh, and the LEAST they could have done was kept the hair colour of Perseus' birth-mother consistent. I don't tend to notice nit-picky things, but if her hair is dark brown in the prologue and then honey blonde in the flashback - come ON.
