Review of Clash of the Titans (2010) by David L — 23 Dec 2013
A pretty good remake of the original, given that it was always going to be tough to surpass such a cult classic. Despite the evolvement of many modern day special effects techniques, it was the basic cinematography that made the original such a hit.
The concept has thankfully not been adapted greatly and we still follow Perseus in his journey to save the princess from the Kraken's claws. In essence, this film has taken the storyline and tried to make everything bigger and better, which to be fair, it has done to a certain degree.
I was disappointed to see that the cerberus, or rather the two-headed dog, was omitted, as I enjoyed the various beasts and enemies that the original gave us but the likes of the medusa, calibos, the giant scorpions, and the three witches were otherwise present.
It was not on a par with 'Gladiator', but a lot better than say '300', and i'll look forward to seeing what direction the sequel will take us on in 'Wrath of the Titans'.
