Review of Clash of the Titans (1981) by Larry G — 14 Jun 2010
Well, so-bad-they're-awesome special effects and a good, heroic story somehow make for a rollicking good time in 1983's Clash of the Titans. I didn't really know what to expect from this one, but it turned out to be good, with a lot of heart to it.
This was a very innocuous film, telling an idealistic Greek myth exactly the way it was meant to be told, and I love it. The best scene is probably the one with Medusa - I won't spoil it for those of you who don't already SOMEHOW know what it entails, but it's badass.
The acting is good, the mood is triumphant, the picture quality is a bleached out sort of vintage look that really fits the story being told, and all around I had a good time watching this. Recommended.
