Having seen the remake (and been incredibly disappointed by it) it was interesting to go back and revisit what used to be one of my favourite childhood films. In the end the years haven't been kind.
It's very dated with terrible acting from Hamlin but it's still fun. The effects are still clever but look weird next to todays CGI and you get the feeling that although they did their best to make it look amazing the whole thing is done on a bit of a shoestring budget.
Apart from the young leads thre cast is amazing and you can see why they tried to get so many names to play the Gods for the remake as there are loads of established stars here. The Medussa scene is still the best and she is a great villain.
Bobo the owl is a bit annoying but fun and I have fond memories rewinding the tape to rewatch Bowker getting out of the pool time and time again!
