Review of Clash of the Titans (1981) by Matthew S — 21 Aug 2011

I think this is supposed to be some kind of classic epic film, but, while it is fairly entertaining, a lot of it just wasn't that great. Story-wise, whether you know the mythology or not, it's pretty predictable.

The characters were bland and the acting even blander for the most part. The stop-motion effects were well done, but they were not integrated into the live-action film nearly as much as they could have been.

Compare these effects to the two Star Wars movies to precede it, and you'll know what I mean. I'm interested to see what they do with the remake, which will no doubt be a computer effects extravaganza.

At least back in 1981, they had to be clever with how they did stuff. Now you can just say, "Oh, they did that with computers.".
