Review of Clash of the Titans (1981) by Vasco M — 30 Mar 2012
Clash of the Titans is bad film but has some things that stop it from being horrible. Clash of the Titans is about a mortal named Perseus who is the son of Zeus, the leader of all Gods. One day Perseus finds himself in the city of Joppa (far away from his home) were he soon falls in with princess Andromeda.
When Perseus finds her she has a curse on her and he soon lifts it but later they hear that Andromeda has to be a sacrifice to the all mighty Kraken. Now Perseus has to go out on a journey to find a way to kill the Kraken before it kills his love.
I've always enjoyed stories about Greet Mythology even thought I haven't taken any classes on it but it's just always been something I like. Weather it's listening to old Greek stories, reading a book, or watching a movie it's just interesting to me.
To me this movie was not good, I thought it was a bad film with very little to enjoy. The main thing that made me dislike this movie was the story. The story itself wasn't bad but they way everything happened.
At times everything would get slow and boring and at other times things would go to fast and not explain much. The pacing was just one of the worst things about this movie. Another thing that the story didn't do a good job at was telling a good love story.
I know this isn't just a romantic movie but the relationship between Perseus and Andromeda just felt so weak and not very believable. This movie also has some bad dialogue which doesn't help the story at all.
To make up for all the stories problems is this movie has some decent effects and action. The action here wont entertain everyone who sees this movie but it was good enough from me. Same with the special effects.
The acting in this movie wasn't very good in this movie along with the characters. I think Harry Hamlin was decent in this movie and I felt he was good enough for his character. Burgess Meredith was also decent in this movie.
Those two performances were the only two performances that I like somewhat and the rest were just bad, especially Judi Bowker. Overall Clash of the Titans is a pretty bad film in my eyes and far off from being a classic.
