Review of CJ7 (2008) by Eroki S — 29 Jun 2008
Another full-fledged Stephen Chow film (he produces, writes, directs and co-stars in it).
His penchant for "hyper-reality" comedy is again shown, reaching hilariously absurd levels in one scene that turned out to be a dream.
The kid who plays Dicky is the real star. It's a pity the CGI character the film is named after ( its look a mix of flubber and giant powderpuff w/ a face ) is underused and ironically would've been more interesting if the version of it featured in the dream sequence was the "real" CJ7. In the end the storytelling was a bit uneven, the climax predictable, the ending anticlimactic.
