I think it's hard to compare this movie with previous Chow's movies such as Shaolin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle. Although the mentioned movies are comedies for children, I think CJ7 has the big difference that it intends to deliver a message for kids.

This makes the movie to be based in the content of the story rather than in the spectaculrarity of it. From this point of view, I think the movie is a great achievment. The story although obviously amied for children, is qute entertaining.

The humor is quite naive, but also, quite creative... it has some little humour details which no werstern director would dare to do... and this is what I like the most about Chow's movies. Such humour details are for instance, the characterization of the "big girl", just to mention one.

The use of camera is also quite interesting in many of the takes, and the dramatization used in some scenes, with color, takes and music, are quite interesting too (and funny). Recomended for those who are able to see movies with the eyes of a child.
