Review of City Slickers (1991) by Jay C — 06 Dec 2009
What happened to Billy Crystal. Back in his heyday he was one of the most sought after funny guys in the movies. His stone-faced humor has such a unique charm. Now he hardly appears on film and rarely does he star.
City Slickers is a comedy, buddy film, and western all mashed into one. The premise of modern city men going on a cattle drive is hard to believe but if you suspend reality it is a real treat to watch. First and foremost it is a comedy but there are more than a few moments of genuine emotion and heart and the western element is fantastic, almost matching other films in that genre instead of feeling like a parody of it.
Just give this one a chance if you haven't seen it. You'll enjoy the journey.
