Review of City of Men (2007) by Mika M — 07 Jul 2008
I am not familiar with the TV series that this was based on, however the film was solid. The two main characters turn 18 and are growing up fast a dark and devastating area of Rio De Janeiro.
The best part of the film for me was when one of the boys was bonding with his father who had been in jail for 15 years. In contrast, his best friend was running through the streets and looking for a place to sleep while people were trying to kill him.
Although the storyline with the fathers may have been somewhat predictable - it's a good story of friendship and how to cope with and rise above the madness surrounding you.
