Review of City of God (2002) by Zach M — 25 Jul 2012
A tremendous film based on true stories about youths growing up in dangerous Rio de Janeiro neighborhoods. Some fall victim to the violence and drug culture while others look for any way to escape it. Our lead, Rocket, finds peace through the lens of a camera, becoming a freelance photographer.
The acting is superb and the camera work is some of the greatest of the 21st century. With great influences over camera angles and film-styling, its a bench-mark film both emotionally and technically.
