Review of City of God (2002) by Liam B — 12 Oct 2012
A masterpiece, I couldn't have been more pleased with the excellence and consistency of this films engaging plot. This film shows the brutality and indiscriminate harm upon anyone living in this hellish slum run by an egotistical insecure maniac with a clear chip on his shoulder and a lust for blood.
It's so under appreciated, the acting is incredibly believable, and it's consistently frightening and exciting as it so masterfully pulls the viewer into to this poverty ridden death trap. It's as close to perfect as any film could be and up to par with Goodfellas and even The Godfather.
