Review of City of God (2002) by Guy L — 01 Mar 2013
A bloody smashing film that was overall enjoyable to watch. Portraying that brutal and ugly side of life you won't see in a touristic prospect of Rio. Outside the city center, there are slums where poor people with no options in life but crime dwell.
The worst part being the victims are just as poor thus, there is no real money. The story of Rocket's struggle to be better than his criminal peers leaves him exploiting their actions for his rise to photography fame, giving a slight ironic notion to the film.
