Review of City of God (2002) by Youri V — 01 Sep 2014
'City of God' is electrifying and vibrant. The director Fernando Meirelles brings his talented vision on this film, telling us the story of the young genaration of crime and the life in the slums of Rio de Janeiro.
approaching the focus of Rocket's journey, a young photographer living in the City of God who just wants to get a job, however, will have to live with the war between gangs of drug traffickers. The story introduces us to the underworld of the Brazilian favelas, drug trafficking and poverty, and especially the young generation in drug trafficking, the lost future of Brazilian youth in the 70s.
