Review of City of Ember (2008) by Moya W — 17 Nov 2013
Having seen all of Saoirse Ronan's newer films it was interesting to see her first movie after her Academy Award nomination in Atonement.
This was a family adventure of some sort but I found it to be a bit too complicated. I could hardly understand what it was about, so how will then the target audience be able to understand it?
I still managed to sit through it but there was no longing in this movie seeing as you hardly knew what you were watching and that was a shame. A movie like this needs longing. There needs to be something to look forward to, a reason for you to watch it all but it didn't.
Sadly this movie didn't manage to give prominence to the excellent acting that it could have had, seeing as it has an incredible cast. Instead this movie just ended up being a tad mediocre.
