Enjoyable and is a great children story but it leaves so many questions unanswered and quite a lot of things inconsistent and made very little sense e.g. what sort of person would think a 200 year old tin of pineapple is still edible? Is this conveying the wrong message about food hygiene and sell by dates?
I admire the author's use of symbolism, creation of the sense of adventure, mystery and revelation of something profound. It does capture the child's imagination and gives it a sense of magic and bewilderment.
