Review of City of Ember (2008) by Andy K — 18 Aug 2009
A Logan's Run/Total Recall hybrid for kids, City of Ember starts promisingly enough but once the secret of the box is revealed, it's a very predictable journey to the finale. Bill Murray looks confused - you can tell he wants to crack one of his classic straight-faced jokes but the script won't let him, Tim Robbins appears all too briefly and MacKenzie 'Gareth from The Office' Crook (his official title) does his weirdo-with-the-fledgling-pigeon-face routine once again.
No-one even seems too bothered by the small problem of Vitamin D deficiency...oh well.
